Ogechi graduated from the University of Northampton with a BA Degree in Economics. After four years working as a civil servant, she decided to switch careers and in 2013, gained her PGCE from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her teaching career began in a Year 5 classroom in London and Ogechi’s positions of responsibility have included Teacher Mentor, Science Coordinator and Assistant Head of Girls. Ogechi is adept at catering for the needs of the individual; taking responsibility for progression; preempting misconceptions; and modelling with great clarity. Her classroom management skills are excellent and her lessons consistently make use of different modes of learning so that they spark children’s enthusiasm and so, learning outcomes are maximised. Ogechi has a great interest in the welfare of her students and in her previous school, as a member of the Welfare Team, she delivered multiple sessions during a Student Leadership Training Day and assisted the Head of Girls in daily pastoral duties for all girls’ classes. She also enjoyed supporting the Year 6 cohort for transition, which involved liaising with Secondary School teachers to host taster classes, and chairing a session which allowed the Year 6 students to raise questions about the move from Primary to Secondary.
Ogechi loves travelling and trying new cuisines; some of her favourite cities include Istanbul, Rome and New York. She lived in the UAE for five years and enjoyed exploring some of the other Emirates, as well as, tasting the various Middle Eastern dishes. At weekends, Ogechi enjoys outdoor cycling when the weather permits and taking part in indoor spin classes. She also likes to read, listen to podcasts and attend live music concerts.
