Staff Profile: Katherine Temple

Katherine Temple

Head of Year 10 and EAL Teacher

Katherine graduated from Queen’s University in Canada with a degree in Translation (French, English & Russian) and followed that with an MA Diploma in Russian Literature at St Andrews University in Scotland.  After teaching English in Indonesia for 2 years, she then returned to the UK where she worked for various investment banks in Training & Development in London.

In 2005 she made the decision to become a qualified teacher and completed a PGDE at Edinburgh University whereupon she taught French at an independent school in Edinburgh for 5 years.

Having attended international schools herself as a child, she was keen to return to this environment but as a teacher this time!  She moved to China in 2011 where she taught French and English as Additional Language and was Housemistress at a British International School in Tianjin before joining BISS Puxi in August 2013.  She has enjoyed her pastoral role as Head of Year 8 and also teaching such a wide range of motivated pupils.

Katherine moved to Shanghai with her family (she has two children who attend BISS Puxi) and they are delighted to be living in such a vibrant city and studying / working at such a truly international school.  Apart from exploring new corners of the world, she enjoys pilates / yoga and most outdoor pursuits.

What the students say about me...

“I enjoy doing projects such as ‘Dragons’ Den’ with a group of classmates”

“I like it when we do games and competitions”
