Hazel Harris

BA, PGDIP, QTS (UK), CELTA, MA

Hazel was born on the island of Trinidad in the lovely Caribbean and has been teaching for over ten years. Her teaching career has given her the opportunity to live and work as a teacher in the Caribbean, the United States of America, North Africa, Asia and Europe. Hazel holds a BA in Spanish and French, and a Master’s Degree in International Education. In addition, she holds a CELTA for the teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages. Hazel has taught English as an Additional Language to students at varying levels for the British Council at primary, secondary and post-secondary levels. Before this, she taught Spanish and French to secondary school students in England, Trinidad and the United States of America.

Hazel enjoys teaching and working in international environments and considers herself to be an enthusiastic, committed and dedicated teacher and lifelong learner of foreign languages. In her classes, she always ensures that the lessons include a focus on developing an international mindset and a sense of global citizenship. She truly enjoys facilitating the progress of all students in acquiring and using the English Language. Hazel’s goal is for all of her students to become confident and ambitious users of the English Language across all four skills of speaking, reading, writing and listening, and in the presentational, interpersonal, and interpretive communication modes.

During her free time, Hazel enjoys Latin dances and listening to music from the Caribbean and Latin America.   As a teacher of languages, she really loves watching  foreign language movies, series and independent films from all over the world. It gives her an opportunity to learn more about the cultures and languages of the world. Hazel can also be found sightseeing, exercising at the gym and sampling different types of cuisine from around the world; especially from Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, the Middle East and Spain. Furthermore, Hazel has participated in numerous language exchange groups, walking and hiking groups and food groups.
