Extracurricular Activities

We provide opportunities for students to build their skills, broaden their interests and participate in interactive team activities on an international and a local level. Through these extracurricular activities, students bring their classroom learning to life and become connected to the larger community.

Extracurricular Activities at Champittet

Our school offers a variety of extracurricular activities in which students gain real-world experience. These experiences enrich and contribute to their formal education. Activity options include:

  • Athletic programmes: Our sports clubs are an excellent way for students to be physically active, develop self-discipline and build teamwork skills. We offer sports clubs throughout the school year, as well as after-school athletic activities such as dance and judo.
  • The arts: Students can develop their artistic passion and potential through after-school pursuits, including theatre, music, singing and creative workshops.
  • Basic skills: We offer several extracurricular activities designed to help students learn life skills, such as sewing, first aid, computer skills and relaxation therapy.
  • Language: As part of our mission to cultivate well-rounded global citizens, we offer language classes and extracurriculars in English.
  • Religious instruction (catechism): Students may take weekly classes about religions of the world, as well as participate in lunchtime or evening lessons to prepare for the sacraments.

Outings and Trips

In addition to after-school clubs, Collège Champittet hosts frequent outings that complement what students learn in class. We offer an exciting and extensive programme of trips:

  • Overseas trips: Students can participate in many overseas excursions, including to European capital cities, Asia and Africa. These trips have an academic focus, with an emphasis on the culture, languages and tradition of each destination.
  • Annual ski camp: During a week-long ski camp, students learn to ski and participate in other winter sports and activities. This trip helps build a wonderful sense of community among students and teachers.
  • Local outings: Collège Champittet is located near the borders of Italy and France. Every weekend, boarders have the opportunity to go on local trips and explore cultural opportunities close to home.

Benefits of Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities provide a physical, social and mental outlet. They teach students to engage in active learning both inside and outside of the classroom. Extracurricular activities can:

  • Expand social networks: Extracurriculars introduce students to new friends and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Improve time management: Students practice balancing their schoolwork, extracurricular participation and personal life.
  • Develop new skills: Students can explore a new interest or develop a different skill.
  • Build professional skill sets: From leadership skills to artistic abilities, our clubs help prepare students to develop the life skills they need to succeed after they graduate.
  • Strengthen the mind: Each activity strengthens a student's ability to solve problems and think critically, especially language studies, high-endurance sports and science clubs.
  • Boost confidence: Students can develop and improve their unique skills resulting in higher self-esteem.
  • Enhance their resume: In addition to top marks and leadership roles, students may develop interesting skills and experiences to improve the attractiveness of their university applications.
