Hello! My name is Fabián Ocampo. I started playing violin in 1989 in the Youth Program of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica. At age 13, I began studying electric bass independently. In 2000 I started my studies on the double bass at the National Institute of Music. I have played these instruments consistently for 30 years in different orchestras and groups of diversed musical genres and participated in masterclasses and different camps. I have toured throughout Europe and the United States performing in concerts and recitals. I currently am the double bassist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Costa Rica which I have been a part for the last 15 years.
In 2003 I began working at Country Day School using my International Accreditation of the Suzuki Association of the Americas to teach an after school Suzuki violin program. In 2018 I started working as a full-time teacher, teaching violin, viola, cello and double bass with the Suzuki Method at the Elementary School. In addition, I am creating different string orchestras with students from Elementary to High School to eventually have a full student orchestra. Music is my life and I try every day to transmit this same feeling to my students so they can be happy and realize themselves through it!
