IB Diploma Students at International College Spain Enjoy Outstanding Results for the 2017/18 Academic Year

We would like to congratulate our IB Diploma students on their outstanding results this year for achieving a 93% pass rate.

International College Spain students have once again achieved strong results in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and we would like to congratulate our students on their outstanding performance in this year’s examinations.

International College Spain’s Principal, Mr Andreas Swoboda, said, “In offering our congratulations it is important to note that International College Spain (ICS) is an open entry school where the IB Diploma is the only programme offered in Grades 11 and 12. Some of our students take this very demanding IB programme where it is only offered as an option in other schools. The performance of our students was very pleasing with many remarkable individual accomplishments at all levels of the Diploma Score spectrum. These results are a testament to the hard work of both teachers and students as well as the strength of the IB Diploma programme at ICS”.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, commonly referred to as the IBDP, is a two-year education programme for students age 16-19. The programme is a widely accepted and recognised qualification for entry into higher education and universities worldwide such as Cambridge, Oxford & Imperial in the UK, Stanford, Duke and other Ivy-League Colleges in the US.

It is worth noting that global patterns of results vary from year to year with trends both upwards and downwards reflecting the varying average levels of ability within each year group. With this in mind, this cohort achieved a 93% Pass Rate from the 69 candidates entered for the full Diploma with an Average Diploma Score of 34 out of 45 points. This compares very favourably with the global average of all IB schools of 30 points. 14% of these passing Diplomas were on or above the 40 point mark with two candidates scoring 44 points. This too is well above world averages.

Once again we would like to commend our teachers for another outstanding year. Their commitment to our students and school is what drives these exceptional academic results. On behalf of the parents and school, we would like to applaud them for always challenging our students to achieve more than what they could have thought possible.
