This half-term holiday, 55 students and five staff members travelled to Berlin on a trip that brought the city’s historical and cultural significance into sharp focus.
The group had a fascinating – and often sombre – look at different eras and ideologies through many well-known sites. This included the Reichstag Building, DDR Museum, Holocaust Memorial and Sachsenhausen concentration camp, among others.
The group was very lucky to have Mr. Holmes as an organizer; his interest in the history of the Soviet Union added additional layers to the experience. Indeed, Mr. Holmes was able to share what it was like the day the Berlin Wall came down. In addition, the group had some fantastic guided tours, including one with Alternative Berlin Street Art that resulted in some rather unusual photo ops!
