OUR SECONDARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

At our thriving British Secondary School in Moscow, Key Stage 3 and 4 students follow the English National Curriculum, which culminates in their (I)GCSE exams at 16 years old.

Lessons are taught by our subject experts. Your child will also be supported by their class tutor, who has the important pastoral role of coordinating all aspects of their academic and social development. Challenging, engaging, and packed with outstanding learning experiences, our broad and balanced Secondary education prepares our students for A-levels and beyond.

KEY STAGE 3 CURRICULUM

Our Key Stage 3 curriculum supports our students through the transition from Primary to Secondary School here in Russia. At this vital stage in their education, specialist subjects embed a deeper knowledge and understanding, preparing them for their (I)GCSEs.

Students study English, maths, sciences, geography, history, drama, art, Russian language, computing, music, and PE. Your child will also choose one other foreign language. This gives them a flavour of what it would be like to study each subject at IGCSE level, helping them to make their choices at the end of Year 9.

Our teachers will encourage your child to become a confident, independent learner. In each subject, they’ll be supported to assess their own work, identify areas for development, and establish clear goals.

Project work is an essential component of our British Secondary School curriculum, too. Students work both individually and in groups, developing important critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Your child will also be supported to take risks, as making mistakes is a critical part of the learning process.

(I)GCSE CURRICULUM

At Key Stage 4 of Secondary School, our students study for their (I)GCSEs. Your child will learn in a way that works for them, based on their academic strengths and goals, as well as their ambitions for the future.

Our students typically study nine or ten subjects, which prepares them for the next stage of their education. This also allows plenty of time to explore interests outside of school.

We know that choosing which (I)GCSE subjects to study can be a daunting process. We will support you and your child every step of the way, exploring options, explaining how and what we teach, and identifying career and university ambitions.

Our courses are provided by the CIE and Pearson examination boards.
