This academic year, this December, history was made for The International School of Moscow. After a long absence, The International School of Moscow was excited and proud to finally return to producing its famous Secondary School Productions!
From ‘Honk!’ to ‘Annie’, from ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ to ‘Where the Fairytales Are’. We have produced a wide variety of musicals over the years. For this year, we had the honour of staging Matilda, adding this musical to a long (and thankfully once again growing) list of productions. Returning to creating full-scale productions presented itself with many challenges (as you might expect from a long-term absence).
One of the biggest challenges was that the majority of the cast had never performed in a full-scale International School of Moscow production before! It was clear that there were some nerves amongst the cast because of this fact, however...
If you were able to come see this musical, you would never have known that! The way the students maturely conducted themselves and encouraged each other throughout the rehearsal process was extremely impressive. The way the students came together to support and lift each other while at the theatre was beautiful. And of course, the performance of each and every member of the cast and crew was phenomenal across both of performances on the 6th & 7th December.
As the director of the musical, it has been both an honour and a privilege to work with such a talented cast and a hardworking, supportive crew who were utterly vital in putting together this production.
I would like to thank everybody who came to see our production, and to those that were unable to make it, we very much hope to see you for the next Secondary School Production! The International School of Moscow’s Secondary School Productions are back, and we are here to stay.
Mr. Philip Moon
Research shows that confident students are more likely to succeed academically.
In fact, several science-backed studies cite self-confidence as the number one predictor of academic achievement. Researchers found that students with greater confidence were more willing to learn and challenge themselves. They were also more motivated, resilient, and capable of dealing with adversity.
At the International School of Moscow (ISM), our job is to build and nurture positive self-esteem in children. But what is confidence? And how does it affect academic performance?
