Jason started teaching in 2002, and has 18 years of experience teaching KS5 media, film and photography in the United Kingdom, always as part of an integrated Art and Media department. Working at ISM since 2020 has been the most rewarding time in his career, as the school has such a positive mindset and ambitious vision for education: everything is focused on the student experience and progress.
Jason is deeply committed to the teaching of Media Studies as it offers opportunities to develop strong creative and technical skills, as well as the ability to analyse texts and issues, to develop and articulate informed arguments. Classes can be lively and challenging with lots of questioning, debate and productivity. Jason loves his work, as empowering students to produce their own media content across a range of platforms is a privilege and a joy. Celebrating student achievement and viewing their productions and artworks at the end of the year ‘Art Café’, is a highlight of the year. Working with the amazingly talented and experienced Art teachers makes for a vibrant and energetic working environment: there is always something amazing happening in the Art classrooms.
Jason loves the cinema and all of the visual arts, the outdoors and martial arts.
