Mr Matthew Hubbert

Maths Teacher and Year 11 Form Tutor
Mr Matthew Hubert - Mr Matthew Hubert

Matthew’s teaching journey began by tutoring classmates, and within two years, he had accepted an offer to study physics at the University of Waterloo with the intention to apply for their highly selective Teaching Option in cooperation with Queen’s University. Whether at tiny schools where he's taught almost every subject, or at large, well-funded schools with departments of up to ten, Matt has seen it all and continues to enjoy new challenges each and every year.

Matthew has lived on four continents and travelled to all seven. Aside from Canada, he has also worked in Mexico, Germany, Brazil, Czech Republic, Ecuador, the UK, and most recently, in Egypt. He feels fortunate to have visited several once-in-a-lifetime places such as the Galapagos Islands, Easter Island, Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, the Pyramids of Giza, and Antarctica. Matthew grew up interested in the Soviet space milestones and is a fan of many Russian hockey greats which developed into a fascination with the Russian language, history, and cultures. So now, during his second stint in Moscow, he is eager explore Russia and is still hoping one day to travel along the Trans-Siberian Railroad. He is determined to make that happen sooner rather than later.

Over the years and through the many cirrucula and educational cultures he has experienced, Matthew has continued to promote his love of learning to his students and has developed firm beliefs in imparting critical thinking, growth mindset, scientific literacy, and numeracy to his students.
