On Saturday, 9th of December, Léman International School Chengdu opened its doors to a magical Winter Wonderland, transforming the school grounds into a festive haven that captivated over 800 attendees. The event, not just a celebration of the season but a testament to community and generosity, showcased more than 50 booths offering a myriad of experiences, including shopping, student performances, games, and activities—all with the overarching aim of giving back.

Cross-country running is a special tradition at Léman International School Chengdu. Our autumn season is defined by student-athletes actively discovering their resilience on their second lap through the bamboo forest trail. We are blessed with our sprawling campus to be able to offer premium running experiences to student-athletes from all over China.

From Sunday, November 19th, to Friday, November 24th, Léman International School welcomed a distinguished team of 12 accreditors representing the International Baccalaureate (IB), the Council of International Schools (CIS), and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). This comprehensive accreditation process is a testament to the school's commitment to excellence in education and global standards.

In a riveting showcase of tactical prowess, the Léman Chess Club emerged as a formidable force at the CISA Chess Tournament on November 21, 2023. With an impressive line-up in both the U19 (Secondary) and U11 (Primary) divisions, the club's rising stars left an indelible mark on the competitive chess scene.

Dr. Terry Creissen, the Regional Managing Director of Nord Anglia Education, recently paid a visit to Léman International School, marking a significant event in the school's calendar. During his visit, Dr. Creissen had the opportunity to meet with the primary and secondary student leadership teams, engage with parents, and deliver a compelling assembly to the secondary students. The visit was characterised by insightful conversations, inspirational talks, and a shared commitment to the holistic development of all our students.

The spirit of the Autumn Festival was alive and vibrant at Léman this year as students, teachers, and families came together to celebrate. With colorful costumes, traditional pumpkins, and a plethora of exciting activities, the festivities organised by the Léman Family Association left everyone in awe and created lasting memories for all.

Our school witnessed an inspiring sight as the entire student body enthusiastically embraced the launch of our After School Activities (ASAs). The campus buzzed with energy as students, eager to explore their passions beyond the classroom, engaged in an array of clubs and activities. From touch rugby to film making, Lego building to magazine editing, each ASA offered a unique avenue for students to thrive and develop extracurricular skills.

At Léman, the well-being of our students is a top priority. To foster a positive and healthy mindset, we recently organized a Well-Being Week filled with engaging activities and opportunities for self-reflection. This article highlights the transformative experiences that took place throughout the week, emphasizing the importance of providing young people with the necessary knowledge and tools to manage their own mental health and well-being.

Léman International School is delighted to announce a remarkable educational initiative that aligns perfectly with the MIT-NAE STEAM Objectives. Students from Léman International School embarked on an inspiring trip to the Volkswagen factory to gain a firsthand insight into sustainable vehicle production. As part of the broader STEAM DAY activities, students put their newfound knowledge to the test in the Léman Sustainable Derby 100 on September 15, 2023.

On Saturday, September 16th, Léman played host to the first CISA Exchanges of the 2023-2024 school year. CISA Exchanges are events held mid-season so that student-athletes can experience a tournament-style environment with multiple games in preparation for the official CISA Tournament at the end of the season.

Léman International School Chengdu recently had the pleasure of hosting Emily Cai a former student and International Admissions Team member from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), who engaged with students from Léman International School’s Visual Arts DP students as well as the MYP Y10/11 students. Emily, a representative of SAIC, presented valuable information about the university, answered questions regarding the application process, shared exemplary portfolios from past students, and enlightened the audience on available scholarship support.&

As the sun rose on the first day of the new academic year, the corridors if LIS were buzzing with electric energy. Students, both new and returning, stepped onto the campus with a mixture of excitement and curiosity, ready to embark on a new chapter of their educational journey.

We are delighted to introduce Mr. Paul Highdale to his new role as Head of Secondary. Paul has over 20 years of teaching and leadership experience in both UK and International schools. Paul will move into his new role from the 1st of August and comes with a breadth of experience in implementing and launching both the IB Diploma and Middle Years Programme's.

One of the highlights of the day was our Family Scavenger Hunt, a delightful opportunity for parents, children, and educators to come together and engage in a series of fun activities which took them to our newly renovated learning spaces all around campus. All families immersed themselves in the world of learning as they took on the MIT STEAM Challenge, showcasing their creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills in our brand-new STEAM center.

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we introduce Mr. Robert Dolan as our Acting Head of Primary School at Léman International School Chengdu. Robert joined our community last academic year and has since become a well-known and respected member of our school community.

We are thrilled to introduce our new principal, Mrs Tracy Connor who will move into her new role on the 1st August. With over 20 years of teaching and international leadership experience and a proven track record in leading change, we are very excited to welcome Tracy into her new role.

Our annual NAE-UNICEF Student Summit is now underway in New York City. Congrats to all our student delegates who were selected to attend this prestigious event, which is now back to being held in person. Over 100 NAE students from around the world are gathering to learn from experts about sustainable planning and how to better address global challenges such as poverty, hunger, and climate change.

Léman International School Chengdu has once again achieved a remarkable milestone by being shortlisted among the top 100 schools in the prestigious Forbes China International Schools Annual Selection. This is the second consecutive selection for Léman, further solidifying its position as an outstanding educational institution for foreign passport holders in Chengdu, Sichuan province.
