MET MUN 2023: IV Session, A Window of Opportunity

METMUN 

METMUN was born as an initiative for innovation in the MUN Team. It serves as a collaborative CAS project for all executive members and 10-11th grade staff. The conference's theme was centered around the Rights of the Child, inspired by Nord Anglia's collaboration with UNICEF, and followed the UNA-USA Procedure. This emphasis on children's rights aligned with the global effort to prioritize the well-being and future of the younger generation.  

METMUN's mission is to provide an enriching experience to students and help them develop their critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Through this conference, students can learn how to be effective leaders and make a positive difference in the world.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) influence  

Given the deadline for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this year's METMUN conference aimed to emphasize the urgent need for action before the consequences become irreversible. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected nations worldwide, and the conference recognized the importance of collaboration and perseverance to rebuild and restore peace.  To drive this point home, the conference focused on the need for immediate, global solidarity and the implementation of creative solutions to mitigate the impact of the pandemic and achieve the 2030 SDGs.

Cooperation and action were essential factors emphasized during the conference, as delegates needed to reach consensus to achieve a positive impact. The conference also highlighted the significance of acknowledging past efforts by the international community. It encouraged reflection, learning, and the initiative to continue building alliances for peace. 

Students welcomed and shared with more than 100 delegates from other schools to learn and practice diplomacy, respect, and collaboration skills. In addition, they discussed pressing international issues.  

The event offered students a unique opportunity to build relationships and gain insights into global issues. It also provided a platform for them to develop their leadership and public speaking abilities. Overall, it was an enriching experience for all participants.
