Parent Update - 7 March 2016 Look out for the annual Re-enrolment Letter and Parent Satisfaction Survey! Also, read more about the first ever Global Games Asia held in Hong Kong. It's been a super week for sports!

Dear Parents,

The annual Parent Satisfaction Survey will be sent to you all later today. This is a global survey which goes to all of our 42 schools and plays a key role in helping us all (as individual schools and as a group of schools) to develop and improve the services we provide to you and your children. We really appreciate you taking the time to complete it.

The annual Re-enrolment Letter will also go into your child’s bag this week. It is really important for us to know if your child will be staying with us for the next academic year, so please look out for this letter. It will also be available on Firefly. Click on the ‘Parents’ section.

SAVE THE DATE – Launch of the Julliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme

Global Games Asia 2016

We were delighted, last week, to host the first ever Global Games for the Asia region. These Global Games bring together students from across our family of schools (we hold similar events in the Americas and Europe) and allow our athletes to compete in an international arena against their peers.

During three days of athletics, swimming and football, we saw some wonderful sportsmanship from all the teams, and from our NAIS Sports Leaders, without whom these Games would not have run so smoothly.

We would like to thank Heads of PE from the British School of Hanoi, British School of Guangzhou and Discovery Bay International School for bringing their teams to Hong Kong. We hope they have enjoyed the sporting action and the sightseeing and cultural activities off the field/pool/track.

Finally, none of this would have happened without our amazing NAIS teachers and senior leaders working tirelessly for the past six months. A special thank you to our Head of Curriculum, Katie Byre, and Head of PE, Martin Pate, and his team, James Malone, Deri Reid and Lauren Kenny.

For Secondary, the following students were awarded High Commendations for their work in Science:

Year 8: Mazy Law, Kevin Du

Head of Science Mr MacKinnon then spoke about how: "Practice makes perfect". Practice is when you take the time and effort, and perform something repeatedly. He used science evidence to prove that repetition (ie. in pop songs!) helps you remember things.

Mr. MacKinnon suggested that after the Vietnam residential trip, they should start planning to study everyday, using the timetable worksheet, even when they don't have homework.

CELEBRATING WORLD BOOK DAY

On Monday, last week, we celebrated World Book Day (3 March) in our Assembly. Year 7s, Beatrice and Janice spoke about how Secondary Students were preparing to interview children’s author, Candy Gourlay, (author of ‘Shine’ and ‘Tall Story’) on 14 March. Please check here for more details.

SOME NEWS FROM ME

Finally, I wanted to share a little personal news of my own. After three wonderful years at Nord Anglia I will be leaving at the beginning of May.

It feels like only yesterday that we started this journey and thanks to an amazing team here at the school – and to every parent who put their trust in us – we have made this school the reality it is today. I am immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together. We have all had our up days and down days, but overwhelmingly the journey has been incredible.

I hope that you won’t mind me popping by from time to time to come and stand at the back of the Hall and to celebrate with you the wonderful achievements of your children.

Anyway, back to work. Lots to do before I leave!
