Dear Parents,
As we enter the festive season, our school is buzzing with activity as we prepare for our Christmas performances. The stage is up, the scene is set, and the children are busy rehearsing their plays.
Thank You for World Children's Day
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your support last week during our World Children's Day celebration. It was truly a special day in many ways. Seeing all the children dressed in blue for our assembly was wonderful, and we appreciate your generous donations, which will support UNICEF's vaccine program.
It was heartwarming to see so many in our community come together, placing their hands on our BLUE HEART collaborative artwork, demonstrating how together we can help others in our community and all around the World. We look forward to sharing the final piece with you during the Christmas performances.
The children were also incredibly engaged in our challenges for the day which focused on How to Keep Children Safe and Well. They designed and created homes, identifying essential features for a safe and healthy home, and created their own water filters to remind us that some children do not have access to clean water. We were amazed by their focus and creativity. Understanding children's rights can be particularly challenging for young children. However, we are committed to listening to them and helping them grasp these important ideas in a way that makes sense to them.
One Person, One Flower
Today, your child will bring home their One Person, One Flower seedling. The challenge is to successfully grow their Petunia Hybrida seedling (Garden Petunia) into a healthy plant.
We’ve created a Padlet where your child can post pictures of their growing plant and then at the beginning of next term, our House Captains will award 3 House Points for each healthy Petunia Hybrida!
Backyard Gang School Trip
Looking ahead to the rest of this week, our Year 1 children are excited about their Backyard Gang School Trip on Wednesday. They will be exploring nature and our wonderful environment.
Upcoming Christmas Performances
Looking ahead to the end of the term, we hope you can join us for the following Christmas performances:
Before each performance, we will have Christmas refreshments available, so feel free to arrive early to enjoy a mince pie and some festive cheer!
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to a joyful end to the term and hope to see you at the performances.
Yours sincerely,
Ruth Hanson
