Sixth Form Centre Weekly Update 12 Oct 2026

Dear Parents,
As we approach the half-term break, it is a fitting moment to reflect on the first two months in our new Sixth Form Centre. It has been a privilege to witness the enthusiasm, commitment and ambition of our students across the IBDP, A Level and BTEC pathways. Every day, I see students engaging deeply with their learning, developing the higher-order skills that will serve them so well beyond school: critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration and independent inquiry. Across the campus, classrooms, study rooms and collaborative working areas are alive with discussion, debate and investigation, as students take increasing ownership of their learning.
Yet, what has stood out most to me has been the remarkable range of opportunities that our students have created and embraced beyond their examination courses. Student leadership and initiative are flourishing throughout the Sixth Form.

Our students currently lead more than fifteen clubs and societies, bringing together peers with shared interests every week. From the Computer Science Society to the Wellbeing and Gym Club, these groups create valuable opportunities for students to connect, learn from one another and pursue their passions. Students have represented the school in academic competitions such as the Senior Maths Challenge and the Nord Anglia China Academic Cup, while beginning to challenge themselves through initiatives including TEDx presentations and the Wharton Investment Competition. Equally inspiring is our students' commitment to service and contribution. Whether volunteering with local community organisations such as Crossroads and Culture Homes Elderly Living, attending university lectures from visiting institutions such as the University of Hong Kong and University College London, or leading projects through the Student Leadership Council, our students continue to demonstrate a desire not only to achieve, but to go above and beyond. Together, these experiences are helping to create a Sixth Form community that is purposeful, energetic and intellectually curious.
This spirit was showcased superbly over the weekend during the NAISMUN VI Model United Nations Conference, hosted at our Hung Hom Campus. Organised entirely by our Sixth Form student committee of Adidev, Sahana, Angela, Theo, Jac, Arianna and Hono, the conference welcomed more than 200 delegates from schools across Hong Kong. Over two days, students participated in a wide range of committees, including the General Assembly, ECOSOC, Human Rights Council, World Health Organization, European Union, DISEC, UNODC, NATO, COP31, League of Nations, House of Commons, Crisis and Security Council. Many of these sessions were expertly chaired and led by NAIS HK students. The conference perfectly captured the value of student-led enrichment as young people came together to discuss some of the most significant issues facing our world. It was inspiring to see students building relationships, exchanging ideas, engaging in thoughtful debate and working collaboratively towards solutions. My sincere thanks and congratulations go to all the students who contributed to making the event such an outstanding success.
It is this student-led passion that is shaping our Sixth Form. As we look ahead to the half-term break, I would therefore encourage all students to make time for meaningful activities beyond their academic studies. Whether through sport, music, volunteering, reading, spending time with friends and family, or pursuing personal interests, these experiences play an important role in supporting wellbeing, developing character and fostering the broad range of skills needed for future success.
As we complete our first half term in the Sixth Form Centre at Hung Hom, I would like to thank our parent community for the warm welcome I have received since joining NAIS HK. It has been a pleasure meeting many of you at the events we have hosted so far this year, and I look forward to strengthening those connections and sharing many more successes together in the months ahead.
Thank you for your continued support, and I wish you and your families a restful, enjoyable and well-deserved half-term break.
James Roscoe
Deputy Head of Secondary (Sixth Form)
