Sixth Form Centre Weekly Update 5 Oct 2026

Dear all,
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. Following two memorable events at the Sixth Form Centre last Wednesday, the National Day holiday provided a valuable opportunity to learn from the example of our Sixth Form students.
After school last Wednesday, a group of 15 students from Years 12 and 13 volunteered their time to visit an elderly care home near our Hung Hom Campus. The event, organised by the PTA, was a wonderful success and a provided us all with a timely reminder of the power of human connection and the importance of giving back to our community.
Ms Kini Lau, the PTA's Sixth Form Representative, captured the spirit of the event beautifully:
"The atmosphere became warm, lively, and sincere. What was meant to be a simple one-hour visit turned into a meaningful community experience filled with laughter, curiosity, and kindness."
Our Sixth Form students balance many demands, from preparing for public examinations and leading co-curricular activities to navigating university applications and the everyday challenges of teenage life. And yet, despite their busy schedules and demanding workloads, these students still chose to dedicate their time and energy to others.

Their generosity, thoughtfulness, and warmth made a genuine difference to the elderly members of our community and offered a powerful reminder that, amidst our busy lives, it is important to pause and consider how we can positively impact those around us.
I am incredibly proud of Hono, Karin, Efe, Markus, Angela, Sofia, and Chloe in Year 12, and Kiayu, Briana, Iva, Jacob, Jac, and Adidev in Year 13 for giving their time so willingly and helping to create such a memorable experience. I am also grateful to the PTA for their commitment, organisation, and ongoing support in making this meaningful event possible.
Earlier that same day, we welcomed our Year 11 students to the Hung Hom Campus for an Introduction to Sixth Form morning. The event introduced students to the campus, the opportunities available within the Sixth Form, and the different pathways that they will soon be able to explore.
Year 11 students heard from Daniel and Samaira in Year 12, who spoke with maturity, honesty, and insight about their experiences of transitioning from Year 11 into Sixth Form. Our Sixth Form Student Leadership Council representatives then led campus tours, answering questions, addressing concerns, and helping younger students feel confident and excited about the next stage of their educational journey.
Once again, our students demonstrated outstanding leadership and kindness by giving their time to support others within our community. Their willingness to share their experiences and guide younger students reflects the values that we seek to develop and celebrate within the Sixth Form Centre.
Part of our mission is not only to enable students to achieve their academic potential, but also to provide opportunities for them to develop into well-rounded young adults who are compassionate, socially aware, and committed to making a positive contribution to the world around them. Events such as these remind us that success is measured not only by academic achievement, but also by the character, empathy, and sense of responsibility our students demonstrate each day.
As we move through the term, I look forward to seeing our students continue to teach us valuable lessons about the importance of embracing opportunities to lead, serve, and support one another.
With my best wishes,
James Roscoe
Deputy Head of Secondary (Sixth Form)
