Dear Parents,
This week, our students will take part in a special Social Impact Assembly led by our House Captains.
During the assembly, the children will explore how they can make a positive difference in their community, linked to the Global Goals. They will hear creative ideas from their teachers, learn about real examples from Hong Kong, and consider how even small actions can lead to meaningful change.
At the heart of this work is Mrs. Mertz, who leads Social Impact across our Sai Kung Campus. Driven by kindness, care, and a deep passion for helping others and making the world a better and safer place, Mrs. Mertz plays a vital role in guiding our Early Years community. She helps us identify meaningful ways to support those around us and empowers our children to realise that they have a voice, their ideas matter, and they truly can make a difference. This assembly is a wonderful way of reinforcing that message.
Our aim is to inspire students to see themselves as active contributors — whether by protecting the environment, helping others in need, or making thoughtful choices in their daily lives. Following the assembly, each class will have the opportunity to vote on an action they would like our school to take forward together – we will keep you updated on the outcome.
Looking Ahead: Planning Together as a Community
As we build on this learning, we hope to deepen our Social Impact work across the school. To do this well, we want to draw on the ideas, experiences, and perspectives of our entire community — students, staff, and parents.
To help shape our next steps, we warmly invite all parents to complete our Social Impact Parent Survey. Your feedback will help us understand:
Your voice is important. By sharing your thoughts, you help us create meaningful opportunities that empower our children to learn, to care, and to make a difference — both in and beyond school.
Thank you for being our partners in this important work.
We look forward to hearing from you and continuing to build a stronger, kinder community, together.
Yours sincerely,
Ruth Hanson
