Shanghai Competition as it Happened!
Dear Parents,
Our students had a fantastic competition. They tackled three mystery rounds, a mathematics trail, and a number challenge with great energy and enthusiasm. Throughout the days, they worked brilliantly as teams, sharing ideas, listening to one another, and trying different strategies to solve problems.
Their teamwork and determination were wonderful to see and were complimented by their critical thinking and creativity. We could really notice our children’s ability to use their metacognitive skills throughout the competition.
To wrap up an exciting weekend in Shanghai, we are incredibly proud of all our students for their hard work and commitment. Well done to Nathan, Aimee, Serena, Horace, Edith, Zoey, Victoria and Tiger who were fantastic role models for our school. A special congratulations to Serena, Aimee, and Edith for earning medals in the individual rounds!
See you next year FOBISIA Shanghai!
Ms. Harris, Primary Mathematics Lead and Year 5 Teacher.

And what did our children think?
Aimee, 5D, bronze medalist in the Individual Round
On Friday and Saturday, I competed at Dulwich College Puxi Shanghai for the FOBISIA Maths Competition 2026. The team (Y5 & Y6) were split into two teams - me, Serena, Horace and Nathan for Y5, and Victoria, Zoey, Edith, Tiger for Y6. There were 10 rounds in total, split between 2 days. On the first day, we did the Math Trail, the Countdown and the Mystery Rounds 1, 2 and 3. The Mystery Rounds was a Number Investigation, an Escape Room, and a Data Handling round.
Day two was a Maths Logic Round, an Individual Written Round, a Construction Round and two Mystery Rounds. The Mystery Rounds for that day were the Around the World In 80 Minutes and the Split Number Relay. After, we had the…. GALA DINNER!
All the schools were there and we all had a HUGE feast. After the feast came the Award Ceremony. I received a beautiful, wondrous bronze medal that shone like the sun and my friend Serena got a silver.
When I returned to Hong Kong, I felt tired but filled with exhilaration at the same time. I wanted to do it again! Overall, I was glad to make this once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I would gladly do it again.
