Dear Parents,

As our examination season begins, we would like to wish all of our students the very best. We know how much preparation and dedication has gone into reaching this point, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and commitment.

Last week's Book Week was a tremendous success, filled with creativity, enthusiasm, and a wonderful celebration of reading across our school community. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make it such a memorable occasion.

Upcoming World Oceans Day (8th May) – Paul Goodson

The Geography department will be collaborating with the Art department to deliver a wonderful Ocean Plastic Pollution collage.

Students in every Year group are invited to start collecting coloured plastic waste materials at home representing their respective Houses:

  • Caernarfon – Green
  • Balmoral – Blue
  • Windsor – Red
  • Sandringham – Yellow

On Friday 8th May, students will be participating in a Quiz competition during Tutor Time for House Points. Then during Lunch time, students are invited to join Mr Goodson, Ms Procter, and the House Events ECA team, to create a beautiful collage of their favourite ocean animals using plastic waste materials.

House Updates – Charline Procter

The English department led the way last week, promoting exciting House spirit opportunities to celebrate World Book Week in secondary.

Students battled it out in their Houses during lunch on Friday with their literacy knowledge. Well done to our winning Windsor team!

It was also fabulous to see House Spirit going beyond the physical buildings, as students and teachers took part in the ‘Get Caught Reading’ Easter Challenge.

Well done to all our fantastic entries and winners.

🎉 U16 Boys A Badminton — Division 4 Finals Champions! 🎉

Congratulations to the U16 Boys Badminton B team on winning their league this season!

A highly competitive final fixture against ICHK saw the score at 3-3 at the end of the regular scheduled games.

‘Super Doubles’ - a single set, first to 21 decider was needed! The tension grew and the badminton was ferocious.

Our super doubles pair won 21-15 in what was a great advert for school badminton!

Congratulations to the squad of Preston, Carson, Han Han, Kayden, Marcus, Matthew, Jasper, Evans and Jerome - everyone’s’ contribution this season made it the success it has been.

U14 Boys Badminton – Bronze Medal match

The U14 Boys Badminton bronze medal match was a real test of character, and the boys came in pumped, focused, and locked in, as they say, ready to take on Discovery College. Jason Y, Jason T, and Hugo stepped up in the singles with real confidence. The contests were close throughout—back and forth, end to end, and decided by key moments. Jason Y managed to win 2–0, while unfortunately Jason T and Hugo were edged out 2–0.

Even with the early result, the team stayed in high spirits, knowing they could still change things in the doubles. Jason Y and Ronnie delivered a strong performance, winning 2–0 in a close match. They kept composure under pressure, stayed positive, and listened well to feedback from both the coach and each other.

On the other two courts, it just wasn’t our day. The boys tried their best, but struggled to control power, return the smash, consistently reach the shuttle, and coordinate their movement, which led to unforced errors. That being said, they didn’t give up and displayed great resilience. However, DC stayed composed, and there was little to capitalise on. Overall, great sportsmanship, very positive, motivated, and supportive of each other but a little rusty after the Easter break.

U14 Netball

The U14 Netball team has made a fantastic start to the season! They opened with a hard-fought win against West Island (WIS), coming out on top 10–9, before building momentum with a strong performance against Hong Kong Academy (HKA), winning 9–5. This is a brilliant achievement, especially with lots of new players joining the squad. Oscar and Nathan (the only two boys on the team) have been excellent, consistently holding their own and showing great confidence and energy.

A big well done to the leaders driving the team forward: Captain Olivia, plus Joelle and Ida at Centre, whose movement, communication, and determination set the tone throughout. Next up is Discovery College—go Knights! We’re excited to keep the momentum going and bring the same positive spirit to our next match.
