Early Years Campus Weekly Update 31 Aug 2026

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that we are already entering our third week of the school year. Across the campus, children are settling confidently into their new classes, building relationships with their teachers and classmates, and becoming increasingly familiar with their daily routines.

These first few weeks of the academic year are always incredibly important. They provide children with the opportunity to get to know one another, develop a sense of belonging, and build foundations for a happy and successful year of learning and growth. It has been wonderful to see friendships beginning to blossom and children growing in confidence as they explore their new environments.

Year 1

Our Year 1 children have been reflecting on how they want their classroom community to feel and function this year. Through thoughtful discussions, they created a shared Rainbow of Rights, identifying what is important to them as learners and friends.

Together, the children explored questions such as:

• How can we ensure everyone has the right to play?
• What helps us feel safe and valued?
• How can we make sure everyone is listened to and respected?
• How do we learn and play together successfully?

The Rainbow of Rights will act as a living agreement within the classroom, helping children understand both their rights and the responsibilities they have towards others. We have been incredibly impressed by their empathy, thoughtfulness, and commitment to creating a positive learning environment for everyone.



Reception

Our Reception children have been enjoying opportunities to share family photographs with their classmates. These conversations have sparked meaningful discussions about the people who are special to them and the important role these people play in their lives.

Through listening to one another's stories, the children are learning to appreciate similarities and differences, develop confidence in speaking to others, and strengthen their understanding of themselves and the wider community around them.



Nursery

Meanwhile, our Nursery children continue to settle beautifully into school life. They have been enthusiastically exploring the different learning areas within their classrooms, investigating resources, making new discoveries, and becoming increasingly confident in their surroundings.

Play remains at the heart of learning, and it has been wonderful to see children developing their independence, curiosity, and social skills as they engage with both familiar and new experiences throughout the day.



Looking Ahead

As relationships continue to strengthen and routines become more firmly established, we will begin to build on these strong foundations with a wide range of exciting learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Children's personal, social and emotional development remains a key focus, as feeling safe, secure and connected provides the foundation for successful learning across all areas of the curriculum.

Parent Teacher Conferences

• Wednesday 23rd September 3:00pm to 5:00pm (On Campus)
• Thursday 24th September 4:30pm to 7:00pm (Online)

These meetings provide an important opportunity to discuss how your child has settled into the new school year, celebrate their successes, and share next steps in learning for the months ahead.

• Friday 18th September ‘Snowy Mooncake’ Parent Workshop 3:00-4:30pm (optional family event)
• Monday 21st September - ECAS begin (Information and sign up will be sent to all parents tomorrow)
• Thursday 1st October - Public Holiday - National Day
• Friday 2nd October - School Holiday

Christmas Concerts

• Monday 7th December 9:15am: Year 1 Concert
• Tuesday 8th December 9:15am: Reception Concert
• Wednesday 9th December 9:15am: Nursery Concert
