Sixth Form Centre Weekly Update 31 Aug 2026

Dear Parents,

We had a meaningful and productive week at the Sixth Form Centre in Hung Hom. It has been wonderful to see the energy and purpose around the campus as students have embraced the new academic year. There is a tangible sense of excitement and ambition among our Year 13 students as university visits and our Higher Education curriculum help bring their future applications into focus. Meanwhile, Year 12 students have made a positive start across the A Level, IB and BTEC pathways, adapting confidently to their new courses and routines.

Campus Launch Celebration - Sixth Form Centre
We are delighted to invite parents to our Campus Launch Celebration at the Sixth Form Centre in Hung Hom on Thursday, 10th September. We warmly welcome all Year 12 and Year 13 parents to join us for an open-campus experience led by our teachers, tutors and Sixth Form Team. Hosted by the Secondary Senior Leadership Team, the event will provide an opportunity to explore our new learning environment and celebrate this exciting chapter together. The event will take place from 5.00pm to 6.30pm. If you would like to attend, please register using this link by Monday, 7th September.

University Visits
Last week, our Sixth Form Centre hosted three valuable university admissions events. On 24th August, Luke Simmons, Senior Liaison & Recruitment Officer at UCL, delivered an online session exploring UCL degree pathways and admissions. This was followed on 25th August by a visit from Frank Chow, Assistant Director at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). To conclude the week, Yuki Fung, Executive Officer from the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) Admissions Office, met with students on 28th August to share insights into local degree options and application strategies. The programme continues this week with a lunchtime admissions visit from King's College London and an after-school admissions session and professor workshop with Professor Sergio Lourenço and Admissions Manager Isaac Wong from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) on 3rd September. On 4th September, students interested in the creative arts will have the opportunity to attend an art portfolio review and presentation delivered by LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore.

HKwalls Mural Project
A number of Year 12 and Year 13 students recently had the opportunity to work with Japanese artist TAXA to transform the third-floor wall into a vibrant celebration of student voice, creativity and community. Inspired by ideas shared during Sixth Form Orientation focus groups, the mural captures the energy, aspirations and identity of our students as they help shape the story of our new campus. As one of the first cohorts to learn and grow in this space, our students have embraced the opportunity to leave a lasting mark for future generations to enjoy. This collaboration is a wonderful example of our commitment to Leaving a Legacy, turning student ideas into artwork that will inspire, connect and energise our Sixth Form community for years to come. We look forward to sharing the finished mural with you at our Campus Launch Celebration on Thursday, 10th September.

Nord Anglia Academic Challenge Cup
This week marked the launch of this year's Nord Anglia Academic Challenge Cup, an academic quiz competition involving Nord Anglia schools across China. Congratulations to our team of Winston W, Isabella GC, Efe D and Theo N on their outstanding Round 1 victory against The British School of Beijing, Shunyi. Their impressive 170-90 win showcased exceptional academic knowledge, teamwork and quick thinking. We are incredibly proud of their achievement and look forward to supporting them as they progress through the competition.

Hung Hom Committees and Societies
Students have been finalising proposals for this year's committees and societies, and we have already received a wide range of exciting proposals including a student newspaper, a Computer Science Club and an Investment Society. We look forward to supporting these student-led initiatives in the coming weeks. They provide excellent opportunities for students to pursue their interests, develop leadership skills and engage more deeply with subjects beyond the curriculum.

Finally, I would like to thank all parents for their flexibility and understanding during Thursday's Red Rain alert, which helped us ensure the safety and wellbeing of every member of our community.
