Early Years Campus Weekly Update 21 Sep 2026

Dear Parents,

Last Friday, we were delighted to host our first ever Family Snowy Mooncake Workshop. It was fantastic to welcome so many families into school for this special event and to see children and parents learning side by side. Under the expert guidance of Lu Lao Shi, families created their own snowy mooncakes to take home, enjoying every step of the process together.

From mixing ingredients and kneading the dough to shaping, decorating, and finally pressing their creations into traditional moulds, children and adults enjoyed the hands-on experience with enthusiasm. The workshop was filled with confident Mandarin speaking, happy smiles, and plenty of laughter as families worked together to create beautiful mooncakes. It was a memorable and joyful occasion that perfectly captured the importance of family, tradition, and togetherness that lies at the heart of the Mid-Autumn Festival.



A huge thank you to all the families who joined us. Events like these remind us of the strength of our school community and the powerful connections that are formed when families and school come together. This morning, our Year 1 children had the privilege of taking part in another very special Mid-Autumn Festival experience. Following the incredible generosity of our families, who kindly donated mooncakes, the children visited the Sai Kung Community Centre to deliver the mooncakes to elderly members of the local community.

The visit began with a warm welcome and a Mandarin greetings activity, providing children with an authentic opportunity to use their language skills in a meaningful context. The children then delighted the audience with a performance of 小星星歌 (Little Stars Song) before reenacting the much-loved story of the Moon Fairy.

One of the highlights of the morning was a special question-and-answer session led by Lu Lao Shi. Children partnered with members of the community centre and worked together to answer questions in Mandarin. It was heartwarming to see the confidence, curiosity, and respect shown by the children throughout the visit. More importantly, it provided a valuable opportunity for them to connect with and learn from the older generation while demonstrating care, kindness, and cultural understanding.

The morning concluded beautifully with the children coming together to sing 月亮圆歌 (Full Moon Song), a fitting end to a celebration that brought generations together through language, culture, and community. Experiences such as these help our children understand that language learning extends far beyond the classroom. As we look ahead, we have another busy and exciting week planned. Children will continue to explore and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival through a range of learning experiences and activities across the curriculum.



We are also looking forward to welcoming families to our first Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. These meetings provide an important opportunity to celebrate your child's successful start to the school year, discuss their progress, and strengthen the partnership between home and school.

Adding to the excitement, our Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) begin this week. We know many children are eagerly anticipating these new opportunities to explore interests, develop new skills, and build friendships beyond the classroom.

With so many new experiences, celebrations, and opportunities for learning ahead, it promises to be another wonderful week for all.
