NAIS Pudong Scholarships
As we reach the end of this extraordinary school year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the journey we have all been through together. The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic tested our resilience, patience, and adaptability in ways we could have never imagined. However, despite the hardships of the past three years, we have all made it through, sent our students to university, taught our children in and out of the classroom and welcomed back our youngest to the outstanding teaching and learning spaces across the campus.
I do want to express my gratitude to all our parents who have been patient, adaptable and most of all supportive of their children as our students struggled with online learning and missing the sociability of their friends at school. I also want to acknowledge our teachers who have gone above and beyond to ensure that their students reached their full potential, the highest grades possible and ensured the continuity of education for all students no matter the circumstances.
"If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced."
Wise words indeed from renowned painter Vincent van Gogh. Having confidence in our abilities - whether they be in art, music, sports, academics or any skill we wish to learn and develop - is a vital skill, and one which is engrained in our school values alongside creativity and consideration. It delighted me, therefore, to end the academic year on a profoundly positive note by issuing the Principal's Awards to students across the school who have demonstrated significant confidence in a variety of ways across this school year. It reaffirmed my belief that our students are special and that they have incredible futures ahead of them.
I'm sure many of you will now be heading off on wonderful adventures across China and internationally, so please let me take this opportunity to wish you all safe and enjoyable journeys. I look forward to seeing you all in August for the start of next academic year.

We are delighted to be named as a finalist for the China Schools Awards 2025, organised by the British Chamber of Commerce in China! The awards recognise and celebrate the achievement and best practice of international-oriented K12 education in China, and we’ve been shortlisted within the Staff Development and Wellbeing category.
The summer trekking expedition of the year returned this month when a group of our students headed into the Swiss mountains for the experience of a lifetime!
We’re delighted to launch our brand new NAIS Pudong charity Advent Calendar for 2024, and you can pre-order yours now! The advent calendar is a centuries old tradition that helps with the exciting daily countdown through December to the Christmas celebrations on 24th and 25th. These days many calendars – including ours – contain delicious chocolates to be enjoyed each day.
We were excited to restart our Industry Expert sessions this week, offering a wonderful opportunity for specialists from a variety of professions to speak to our senior students about both their individual pathways and their specific industries. Our first session this year saw Dr Jeorge Ducha - a paediatrician with almost 25 years of clinical experience and part of the Parkway healthcare group in Shanghai – talk to our students about his career, his current employer, and the medical profession in general.
