NAIS Pudong Scholarships
As the festive spirit envelops the school, the anticipation of the Christmas season is palpable! Late November marked a delightful celebration at NAIS Pudong, where the Early Years and Year 1 students took centre stage to showcase their endearing Christmas Jukebox performance. The performing arts centre was brimming with with joy as these young talents, with their innocent voices and adorable dance moves, captivated the audience. Laughter echoed through the hall, especially during the charming 'Dad-calling' moments that added an extra layer of warmth to the event.
Despite many of them being first-time performers, the children displayed an astonishing level of confidence and charm, leaving everyone awestruck. It was truly heartening to witness their enthusiasm and the magic they brought to the stage. A heartfelt thank you extends to the dedicated teachers and staff whose efforts transformed the venue into a festive wonderland, contributing to the overall enchantment of the show.
The program featured a delightful line-up that showcased the diverse talents of the young performers. The evening began with the performance of "Five Little Elves" by the Pre-Nursery Bumblebees, followed by the Nursery Caterpillars' rendition of "Five Mince Pies." The stage came alive with the Reception A Ladybirds' energetic "Reindeer Dance," and the charm continued with Reception B Butterflies presenting the lively "Christmas Conga."
The collaborative spirit of Year 1 shone through in their performance of "A Song for Making Snowmen," which showcased their coordination skills perfectly. The festive atmosphere reached its peak during the interactive performance of "Pull a Christmas Cracker," where all children participated, creating a magical connection with the audience.
To add a multicultural touch, the Jukebox featured the Mandarin rendition of "Jingle Bells," performed enthusiastically by all children, bridging cultures, and spreading the joy of the season. With this heart-warming performance, NAIS Pudong has officially ushered in the Christmas season, leaving everyone with smiles, memories, and a sense of community.
At Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong (NAIS), we believe firmly that every child has the potential to become a confident communicator and writer. Across Early Years and Primary, and leading into our Key Stage 3 transition, we utilise the Talk for Writing approach to accelerate our students’ progress in reading and writing and, crucially, in their speaking and listening.
We were delighted to welcome Mr Justin Foley to our campus earlier this week to continue our Industry Expert series, a programme which sees specialists from a variety of industries come to talk with our senior students about their pathways and career planning.
On the 10th of Jan, under the theme of Unity & Belonging,5 NAIS Pudong students took part in the TEDx youth event at our sister school at BSB Shunyi. This provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to demonstrate their own creative thinking and confidence in public speaking in front of a live audience which at some point reached nearly 20,000 viewers accessing the live feed.
In the final of our series of alumni spotlight articles, we speak with Matthew Ward, a professional football player in England who spent six years at NAIS Pudong before departing in 2019 to take up his current role as an elite sports star!
