Complete with a feeding box, a door and a metal roof, the goats felt at home in their new shelters. The goats will provide the families with improved nutrition from milk and a potential source of revenue if they breed the goats and sell their kids. Although it was a relatively small effort in the grand scheme of things, the benefits to these families' lives were apparent and they appeared extremely appreciative for our help.
In the middle of the day, we stopped off at the Kitefu primary school to have lunch and then present the head teacher of the school with the donations our pupils had brought with them. It was a bit overwhelming to see the Tanzanian children so excited to be receiving these gifts and our students enjoyed playing football, frisbee and badminton with them.
During our evening feedback session, our pupils were asked to give one word to sum up today and here are some of the responses: cherish, energy, amazed, joyful, grateful, humbling, heart-warming and life-changing.
Tomorrow, we embark on a two day safari but we will be sure to update you with further Tanzanian adventures when we return!
