The Year 4 artwork was linked to their topic this term ‘Inventions and Inventors’. During this topic, children were given the opportunity to learn about famous inventions including cars from across the world. They also developed their drawing skills through tone, multi-dimensional drawing and sketching, along with painting skills by mixing and using a range of painting techniques to create textures. They were inspired by many famous artists including Van Gogh, Monet and Munch.
The Year 6 artwork was linked to their ‘World War 2’ topic. The children studied WW2 prints by Kathe Kolwitz then recreated their own mixed media lino prints. They developed their printing skills by printing with more than one layer, then used pastels and other mediums to add texture to their prints.
Their artwork looks fantastic and there has been a lot of positive feedback from parents and children alike. You can view the artwork in the ground floor of the primary building if you haven’t had the opportunity to do so yet. We hope you are as impressed as we are!
