Reception Cubs Going Places

10 maart 2017

Reception Bears have been interested in going places…we started as Police Officers directing our friends across the classroom on our walkie talkies to find the criminals. Then, we used our small world cars, road maps and ‘bad guys’ to practise the new words left/right/straight on.

But we still wanted more! So we made an incredible beebot road map, and learned how to programme the beebots to move around the map. Sometimes, we even managed two instructions at a time – possible future careers in air traffic control?

Finally, following our long weekend, we made postcards about our trips and directed our friends to join us on our holiday. However, the beebots sometimes went too far, and sometimes not far enough….we needed some help. We realised that if we measured how far a beebot moved, we could join up our pictures with exactly the right distance between them. With careful measurements and counting, we were able to connect our holiday pictures in a Bear Cub holiday map!
