On Friday 25 March we will have the International Day parade. Children will have the opportunity to dress in their national costumes or in the colours of their home country.
- Swimming - During the winter months, girls are allowed to wear black leggings and black socks instead of tights under their dresses/skirts on Swimming days. This will make it easier for the girls to change before and after lessons.
- Uniform: Now that it is colder in the mornings please remember that children should not be wearing leggings, boots or hoodies. They should be wearing school jumpers/cardigans/fleeces and NOT non-uniform versions. Information is available on the Primary Parent Handbook on the website.
In Literacy the children will become cartoonist. They will use an online app called "Storyboard That" to create their own cartoons. The cartoons will be based upon a traditional tale and will include speech and thought bubbles. We will also focus on using appropriate onomatopoeia to describe action.
In Maths we will be continuing our investigation into fractions. The children will explore the fractions of shape. We will then move on to teach the children about positional language and learn how to use North, South, East and West. We will also investigate angles of turns using right angles.
In Themed Learning we will continue to explore how sound waves travel to our ear and explore how the ear turns the sound waves into a recognisable noise. The context of our learning will be that Superman has lost his special hearing powers and we must help him to regain his powers by experimenting with sound waves and how they travel.
The children will be helping to create a ‘Year 2 Promise’ display. The children will think of a promise that they want to keep this term such as being thoughtful and kind. All the children’s promises will be displayed in the Year 2 corridor and these promises will be referred to over the course of the term to ensure that the children are remembering to behave well and treat each other kindly.
Literacy – speech bubbles, thought bubbles, captions, onomatopoeia
Math’s – North, South, East, West, left right, up and down.
Humanities – sound waves, vibrations, ear drum, anvil, stirrup, hammer, cochlea.
