Week Beginning 5 April 2016

School will resume on Tuesday 5 of April.

  • TERM 3 ECA/BISCAP/BISS Lions Swimming: Confirmation letters will be sent out Wednesday 6 April.

Next week in Literacy we will be looking at poetry, and specifically poetic form. We will be looking at the structural layout of poems and going deeper than simply studying the poetic devices which are used. Exemplar types of poems studied include kenning, haiku and tanka. These will give the children an opportunity to be creative whilst furthering their journey as writers.

This week we shall be focusing on patterns and relationships with numbers. Children will work on identifying number patterns and describing them using mathematical terminology. They will reinforce their understanding of the number system by using place value and working with larger numbers to solve problems. They will investigate order of operations and have opportunities to calculate in meaningful situations.

The topic of the term is ‘Explorers & Adventurers’. Children will begin by researching historical characters and the journeys that individuals embarked on to discover the world we live in today.

Students will continue to create computer coding to create games.

Literacy – form, structure, layout, syllable, meter

Maths – order, operation, pattern, sequence, relationship, multiply, divide, inverse, place value, notation

Themed – exploration, discovery, journey, voyage, exploitation, historical
