Week Beginning 25 January 2016

Uniform: Now that it is colder in the mornings please remember that children should not be wearing leggings, boots or hoodies. They should be wearing school jumpers/cardigans/fleeces and NOT non-uniform versions. Information is available on the Primary Parent Handbook on the website.

In Literacy this week we will be continuing our work on diary writing. We will begin by looking at and discussing a range of historical diary entries and comparing them to the modern versions we have read. We will then research, plan and write a diary entry as a merchant of the Silk Road. We will be trying to include the Present Perfect tense into our writing too.

This week in maths we will be focussing our attention on problem solving aspects and the processes we follow to reach solutions in the most appropriate way.  We will be adopting the ‘5 Practices ‘method of review and discussion, spending time at the end of lessons to allow children to explain the path they followed to reach their outcome.

This  week we will be learning about the Han Dynasty and the social structure of society during this time period. We will use difference sources of historical evidence and discuss how society in the past is different compared to today. We will continue to put key events and eras of time on our classroom timeline.

We will discuss social hierarchy and what this meant for different people during a period of time. The children will take part in a variety of collaborative  tasks that will encourage them to share their ideas and opinions.

Koken, bakken, braden...
