MESSAGES

  • Our School trip to the Natural History Museum is Wednesday 25th October!
  • Giving Tree – Each year, Giving Tree aims to provide children in need with a gift bag full of winter clothes and school supplies.  Please support this worthwhile cause.
  • Please encourage your child to come up to their classroom with their teacher and class in the mornings. We kindly ask that parents stay in the playground.
  • A reminder to avoid using class bottles and Tupperware for children’s drinks and snacks as these can easily break. Many thanks for your support.

LITERACY

Building up to a complete non-chronological report, the children will continue to use books and the internet as sources to find relevant information on their dinosaur’s diet and hunting/defence strategies.  As they write up this information, they will focus on structuring paragraphs, using conjunctions to add information and past tense verbs.

MATHS

This week the students will continue to recap the methods for showing multiplication and division in the context of worded problems. Some children will move onto two step worded problems, needing to choose the correct operation themselves.

STEAM THEME

Next week, in Themed learning, we will be learning about the three different types of rocks and how they are formed. Children will explore a range of rocks and complete some exciting activities involving chocolate to support their learning!

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

For the next four weeks, the Year 3 children will be focusing on their digital literacy skills in our computing sessions. This week, the children will be continuing to develop their research skills, refining the information that they collected on their Padlet to remove duplicated or irrelevant information and add any final notes.

PSHCE

The children are now beginning to embed the core skills we have been learning about and took a particular interest in the skill, ‘Composure’. We will continue building the children’s understanding of this skill this week through discussions and links with their class work. Children need to develop not only compassion for others but also compassion for themselves. Often, life at school focuses on the outside world when there is an inner world that children dwell on daily which is built by their ability to control, understand and connect their feelings with what is going on around them. Socio-emotional development should be as important as cognitive development which is why we encourage children to digress, step back, assess and express how they feel.

DUTCH

Vorige week vrijdag hebben we een fantastisch gruwelfeest gehad. Er was een gruwelijk enge griezelgang en voeldozen met allemaal vieze dingen erin.  De leerlingen werden opeens ook allemaal mummies en buiten op de speelplaats werd er geoefend hoe men moet vliegen op een heksenbezem. Erg griezelig allemaal!

In de klas worden de  gruwelijk vieze recepten afgemaakt. Deze hangen vanaf volgende week op de display of in de klas. Durven jullie het ook echt te koken?

De meeste leerlingen hebben hun kinderboekenbingo bijna volledig af en al geld verdiend voor de gruwelijk enge filmavond.    De filmavond is op vrijdag 27 oktober van 15u30 tot 18u15. Verdere informatie over deze avond krijgen jullie per e-mail.

Er staan weer nieuwe lijsten in Bloon zodat jullie weer nieuwe woorden kunnen maken.

Vanaf volgende week gaan we ook weer Nieuwsbegrip huiswerk maken.

For homework this weekend, the class will complete an activity from the Home Learning Grid.

Next week, we will continue to practise stating our opinions and learn some more animal names.  In addition to this, we will introduce some more adjectives to help describe the animals.

Year 3 / 4 French – Ms De Borger

This week’s homework will be presenting your movie project ‘ Le promenade de Monsieur Gentil’  with your parents .  Share the QR-code with your parents so they can download the app on their iPad or iPhone.

Next week we will start our new topic ‘ Mon corps’.  Reading the story `Va- t`en, Grand Monstre Vert!` we will recap the colours and talk about the different parts of the monster`s face.  We will create our own colourful French monsters, labelling their yellow eyes and big red noses in French.  There will be no French class on Wednesday due to the year 4 school trip.
