This week in Literacy, the children will be continuing to write their own stories which were planned last week, thinking carefully about the five parts, and how to include speech and tension. Upon completion, the children will be reading and editing their work, building their own self reflection skills. We will then think about publishing and sharing our stories.

Speech, tension, edit, improve, publish

In Maths the children will be learning about estimation.  They will reflect on why this skill is important and discuss real life situations when they may require it. They will then be tasked with estimating weight, time and length in various contexts; some using vocabulary such as longer / shorter, heavier / lighter, whilst others will estimate to the nearest 5 cms, 5 seconds. The children will also apply their skill at estimating to number in  a series of addition and subtraction challenges.

Heavier, lighter, quicker, slower, longer, shorter, more, less

This week, the children will continue to finish off and subsequently evaluate their electronic toys and games. They will then have an opportunity to look at the projects of others and comment positively on the strengths of them. We will then turn to thinking about ulterior sources of power for the games, ahead of our time in the da Vinci Centre!

Electrical, component, material, prototype, adjust, evaluate

This week the children will complete their research about an important inventor and invention, and turn their attention towards presenting their information in a chosen format, thinking about not only the content of their project but the layout too.

Research, program, presentation, layout, aestethics

Fijne vakantie allemaal!
