Over the past two weeks, the classes in Year Two have visited the Anantara hotel at Eastern Mangroves as part of the ‘Hooray…Let’s Go On Holiday!’ unit. They thoroughly enjoyed going behind the scenes to find out about the day-to-day running of a hotel.
First the children learnt how to get a key at reception in order to gain access to a room. They also learnt how to set a table for breakfast, make bread in the bakery and how to clean bedding in the laundry. A particular highlight for the children was wearing hairnets before entering the bakery and getting to taste the bread. Read what the children have to say about the day:
Yara “We learnt how to set a table.”
Farah “I loved the part when I learnt how to make pizza and got to eat it.”
Rashed “I liked it when the man told us to feel the towel that had come straight out the dryer. It was very hot.”
Ryan “The steamer was really loud in the laundry. We had to cover our ears.”
