The Creative and Performing Arts are popular and well-established subjects at St Andrews and we are looking for an experienced and inspiring Dance teacher to join the team. Class sizes are small and the students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a wide range of teaching and learning techniques. The ideal candidate will convey enthusiasm for the subject and contribute collaboratively in the development of the curriculum from Year 7 to Year 9, and then to the introduction of Dance to our GCSE and IBDP programmes in the future.
Our new High School has a number of purpose built Drama and Dance studios, as well as a well-equipped Theatre. From August, all students will study Dance in Key Stage 3, with a curriculum that reflects both our location in South-East Asia and the international nature of our students. We are very excited that our link, through Nord Anglia Education, with Juilliard will expand into Dance next year. Having worked with Juilliard in Music since August 2016, we know that Dance will also benefit both from curriculum input and visiting performers.
At St Andrews, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, and have an excellent reputation for supporting children with special educational needs. Experience of teaching children with dyslexia, mild autism, ADHD etc. would be very good prior experience for a teacher wishing to join our team. Our Mission Statement commits us to meeting ‘all the needs of the individual learner’, and this applies equally to those students targeting the very highest grades at IGCSE and IB.
All classrooms have data projectors and access to the internet, and there is a strong commitment to integrating the teaching and use of ICT skills into all areas of the curriculum, where appropriate, with laptop carts, iPads and ICT labs bookable when required. As well as their teaching, all teachers are also expected to contribute positively to both the school’s pastoral systems and the extra-curricular programme, offering an Extra-Curricular Activity that either supports or extends the students’ learning in their subject area, or from another area of personal interest.
St Andrews is committed to ensuring the safety of all our students, and expects all staff to share the same commitment (see our Child Protection Code of Conduct). No teacher will be appointed without at least two references, including one from the most recent employer, a ten year criminal record check and relevant regional Prohibition Order/DBS checks.
If you would like to apply for a position at our school please complete the application process through Jobtrain, accessible via the Nord Anglia Education website.
