High School Sport: Teamwork key in early season success

Early season performances have shown the dedication of our student athletes. Hard work in training is already paying off in crunch time.

BISAC Season 1 continues

Our ballers enjoyed some memorable victories last week. The U15B came up against a very tall ISB team but we’ve worked on using the speed and basketball IQ of our U15s and they put it to good use to win their game.

The U13 teams both had close games against BPS, but prevailed by 2 points each. These were physical encounters in which our ballers kept their composure and showed their grit and determination. They also endeavoured to play with the grace that we expect of our Flames teams. All credit to them!

The tennis programme is well under way and our players were in action at the U13 Invitational Doubles on Friday night and a 3 way tournament with UNIS Hanoi & Bangkok Patana on Saturday & Sunday.

It was a fantastic opportunity for players to gain some competitive experience and enjoy themselves on court. We have been working hard on consistency and decision making and this was the perfect setting to put this into practice.

This week our U13's travel to Harrow and Bangkok Patana for their BISAC Team fixtures, we also have the U13 BISAC Singles tournament on Saturday.

If you would like to get involved in our Tennis programme we have opportunities available for all players! Please contact Coach Pair on for more information.

Games continue in Week 3, with plenty of basketball and also tennis. Please see the STA Sports calendar or look on Moodle for all sports fixtures.

Upcoming Events

We’re pleased to announce a new event in our calendar, the Friday Night Game. This will start with our Varsity ballers taking on some local rivals in an evening tip-off game. There’ll be music, dance, popcorn, skills challenges, a half-court shot comp and plenty of loud support in the bleachers, we hope.

The event will be ticketed and is open to our community who fancy cheering on our oldest and best Flames ballers in the school! More details to follow.

3on3 basketball is a game played with one hoop and which is very exciting, as there is constant action. We have several teams coming from other schools as well as an academy.

Team details will follow shortly.

Parent Activities

We actively encourage our amazing parent body to be involved with us and keep fit. This sends a wonderful message to our students about leading healthy, active lifestyles both as children and as adults.

In collaboration with the PTG, we offer organised sessions covering a range of sports and activities at school, using our facilities. These include volleyball, yoga, fitness, swimming, running, Zumba, tennis. Some of these are run by our own staff and others are run by external staff.

Details about these will be sent to you and sign-ups are on Moodle, just as for ECAs. Key personnel will be Ann, who has children at High School and will be the parent liaison for this; and Miss Aanchal, in the High School Office (Front Desk)

We love seeing parents work out during the day on campus - please come and join our active social circle.

(PS Volleyball is represented by our own Spicey Spikers, who even play against our girl’s team each term. Having lost some players last term, they’re now looking for new members. No need to be experienced - it’s all a bit of fun! Please contact Miss Jo ( First session is at HS tomorrow, 21 August at 2.45pm).
