Key Stage 2: Being responsible citizens

We continue to inspire and empower the future generation of leaders at St Andrews International School  Bangkok...Loy Krathong celebrations were in full effect at Primary School...Here’s to another success flu vaccination programme.

Student Leadership in KS2

In KS2 we try to create leadership opportunities for as many students as possible. Last week was a perfect example of students stepping up and getting involved in projects. Mr Jose’s newly formed digital experts ran the assembly for KS2 on Friday morning. In this, they shared information with their peers in how to be a good digital citizen and how to stay safe online. The children chose which information to share, created the presentation and hosted the Kahoot quiz at the end. In a similar vein, the EcoBeasts were heavily involved in the launch of the new zero waste shop - Little Steps to Zero Waste. Their children had made their own presentation, which included videos they had made, to show the parents who came to the grand opening. The children also did live demonstrations of how to use the shop and talked to the parents about the products on offer. Opportunities like these help the students develop their skills of organisation, collaboration and help with their confidence in public speaking. They also learn new skills such as video editing and working with adults outside of their class teachers.

There are also many more opportunities for children to get involved as leaders- the house captains have supported with the FS3 Highland games and will be involved in many other events throughout the year. Students are also getting more and more involved with leading roles in assemblies. These opportunities help prepare the students for life and help them become better risk-takers who are willing to stand up and make a difference.

Loy Krathong

This morning the Primary Campus was awash with colour as everyone came to school in traditional Thai costume ready to celebrate Loy Kratong. The morning began with two assemblies which highlighted how the students have been incorporated thinking about sustainability and also included an amazing dance from the Ramayana as well as a musical performance form Year 4. The children then returned class to make their Kratongs.
