Student Leadership in KS2
In KS2 we try to create leadership opportunities for as many students as possible. Last week was a perfect example of students stepping up and getting involved in projects. Mr Jose’s newly formed digital experts ran the assembly for KS2 on Friday morning. In this, they shared information with their peers in how to be a good digital citizen and how to stay safe online. The children chose which information to share, created the presentation and hosted the Kahoot quiz at the end. In a similar vein, the EcoBeasts were heavily involved in the launch of the new zero waste shop - Little Steps to Zero Waste. Their children had made their own presentation, which included videos they had made, to show the parents who came to the grand opening. The children also did live demonstrations of how to use the shop and talked to the parents about the products on offer. Opportunities like these help the students develop their skills of organisation, collaboration and help with their confidence in public speaking. They also learn new skills such as video editing and working with adults outside of their class teachers.
