They soon realised that we could get clues about who had been in our classroom by reading the book. We realised that it had been a cat, a squirrel and a duck trying to make pumpkin soup in our classrooms when we weren’t there.
Since then we have used this story as a talk for writing text. The children have done really well at learning how to retell the story with actions and now they are in the process of writing their own versions of the story. I am looking forward to reading the finished products; they have been really inventive with their ideas and are creating stories about; magic potions, delicious cakes, castles, Lego houses and more.
