As part of our science work on Living Things and Their Habitats, we took a walk to the nearby Liangma river to inspect the environment and to see what conditions the living things were living in. We didn’t see many fish in the river, but we did find many types of plants and even fungus!
Prior to the trip, we had discussed what potential dangers there might be to animal and plant life, including litter, pollution and fire. We also learnt about the 7 major processes of living things and we learnt the acronym MRS GREN to remember them:
Following our trip, the children will be trying to think of ways to improve the environment for the living things both in and around the river. The teachers in Year 4 can’t wait to hear the ideas that they come up with!
