Caring, Growing and Celebrating Together

It feels like only yesterday that we welcomed everyone back to school, but somehow we are already five weeks into Term 1! It has been wonderful to see the students return with so much energy and enthusiasm. As a teacher, it is always amazing to see just how much children can grow over a short summer holiday – many of them seem to have come back noticeably taller!

This week the children have been learning all about themselves – what they look like, what their bodies can do, and how they can use colour to express the world around them...

Collaboration is at the heart of Performing Arts this term! Across Primary, our students are developing their musical and dance skills while learning how to listen, communicate, take turns, share ideas and create together.

There is something magical about the moment a child realises that the marks on a page can carry a message, tell a story or share an idea. In Reception, this exciting journey begins with Read, Write, Inc. (RWI) Phonics. What a transformative year it will be!

At BSB Sanlitun, we believe that some of the most powerful learning happens when children have the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience the world around them. School trips are an important part of our educational experience because they allow children to take their learning into real-life contexts, make meaningful connections and create memories that stay with them long after they return to school.

The start of a new school year is always a special time, filled with excitement, curiosity, and perhaps a few butterflies, for children and parents alike. Our team is here to support each family every step of the way as our little ones begins this wonderful new chapter.

Social skills are learnt through practice. By giving children regular, positive opportunities to connect, cooperate and sometimes work through a little difficulty, we help them build the confidence and resilience to feel that they belong.

What an exciting start to our new IPC unit, Brainwave! Year 1 transformed into a team of curious brain scientists over the last two weeks, ready to investigate one very important question: How does our amazing brain help us learn?

Mr Major and I are delighted to welcome all our students back for another exciting year of PE. We are looking forward to helping every child develop their physical skills, confidence and enjoyment of sport throughout the year. Our aim is to create a positive and inclusive environment in which all students feel encouraged to participate, challenge themselves and celebrate their progress.

Our recent theme in Nursery focused on the topic of growth. We explored growth in a variety of ways, starting with ourselves, then looking at plants and animals. The results were amazing, and the children truly understood that growth means “getting bigger.”
