Imaginative Thinking Through Creative Musical Ideas

In music and choral lessons this term, children across the year groups have been encouraged to embrace their creativity and become confident composers and song writers, capable of original, valuable musical ideas. In music lessons we are trying to give children an outlet for their own musical visions by teaching them some core musical skills as well as allowing them to explore and develop their musical imagination.

We are starting early. Even in Nursery and Reception they are getting a chance to improvise and embed some of their own ideas in each of little performances in class, even if are just playing using some simple sounds or body percussion.

Through musical creativity, we hope that children will be able to build on their creative, critical thinking as well as to gain a level of confidence in their own thoughts and ideas which they can apply to life both in and out of the classroom.
