Like the “House Music Competition” which took place at the start of the academic year, this is an event which is open to every child in primary campus. We encourage all children to perform anything they would like to the class within their Performing Arts lessons. The audition process normally takes several weeks and is very exciting for children, parents and teachers.
What’s particularly special about “Sanlitun’s got Talent” is that the children take complete ownership of their acts. They make the decisions about what they are going to perform and are responsible for all of the preparation and practice. Opportunities for children to perform are not just limited to Performing Arts subjects. Across all the subjects of the curriculum, there are opportunities for children to express their ideas.
In Performing Arts lessons we try to create an atmosphere where children are encouraged to perform at every opportunity, where seemingly small feats of achievement are met with great acclaim and, perhaps most importantly children are supportive and respectful of each other’s performances. We believe that confidence gained in these subjects will help children in all aspects of their learning as well as in their adult life.
