Lisa Allen, our Dance and Drama specialist has recently returned from the Juilliard School in New York and is eager to roll out the new Drama curriculum and explore the Core Works with students throughout the school.
The Performance Choir will soon be up and running in readiness for its busy Christmas schedule. All the external engagements were a huge success last year and we now aim to take these forward, building on the students’ experience and skills. Auditions will be held next week. In addition, there will be opportunities for all children to enjoy singing in Choral lessons, Key Stage assemblies, class assemblies and lunchtime sessions.
IMPs (Individual Music Programmes) are a vital part of the Performing Arts department and are a great way for children to develop their music skills on a specific instrument. 1:1 music lessons will start from Monday 2nd September and registration for these is open to all students from Friday. Please check the daily email from your child’s class teacher, which has a link to the online registration portal.
Later in the term, we will be putting on a production with Year 5. We don’t want to give away any details at this point but we are certain that parents of children in Flamingos, Pelicans and Kookaburras will be in for a real treat! Children in Year 2 will be giving a Christmas performance in December, which, given the wealth of talent in the school, I am sure will be nothing short of spectacular.
The Performing Arts curriculum is now under way and we have enjoyed meeting the new classes and giving a preview of the Core Works on which we will focus this term. As you can see, children in Year 2 were excited to develop their understanding of pulse and rhythm.
