As we are getting ready to go on holiday for Spring Festival, students at BSB have been thinking about some of the customs and practices associated with Chinese New Year. Children in Reception have been learning a New Year song, which uses some traditional instruments and which has formed the basis of a unit of work on finding the beat, learning different rhythms and collaborating with others to play as a group. You can see them in these pictures, counting carefully to each play in the correct place.
Students in Year 4, on the other hand, have been creating their own dragon dances. While traditional dragon dances are associated with good fortune, these students relied less on luck and more on their Be Ambitious skills, being imaginative and collaborative to bring together their exciting dance performances.
