Marvelous Measurement of Mass

In Maths this week in Year 3 the focus has been on measuring capacity and mass.

Today Puffins and some children from Hornbills and Macaws classes have been testing their estimating skills in the topic of mass; understanding the difference between a sensible guess and accurate measuring skills using scales. The children also compared their estimates and actual measurements to find the difference and identify if their estimates were sensible or whether this was something they needed to improve on as a next step.

Can you find out how many grams are in a kilogram from the Year 3 classes? Can they put their skills into practice in the real world at the supermarket? Can they estimate the mass before the shop assistant weighs your fruit or vegetables?
