Over the last few weeks Year 1 started creating their own 3D bug sculptures! We began by looking at different types of insects and the parts of their body; the head, thorax and abdomen. We spoke about different materials we could use to recreate our favourite bugs, and decided that newspaper would be best! We used our fine motor skills to fold and scrunch the paper to create different shapes for the parts of the body. After that we stuck them together and bent pieces of wire for the legs. Our final steps will be to cover the bugs in Papier-mâché using crepe paper. Year 1 can’t wait to finish their critters!
