Jennifer Skeldon

Nursery Clown Fish Class Teacher

I graduated from Durham University in 2001 with a degree in Sociology and Social Policy before completing my Primary PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University. From a very young age I knew that I wanted to work with children and having spent some work experience time on a paediatric nursing ward and in schools I decided that teaching was the career for me.

I taught in the UK for 11 years, teaching in Key Stage 2 and the Early Years. In 2013 my husband and I decided to take the big step of embarking upon international teaching. I have taught in Qatar for the past 5 years and had a fantastic time! I can’t wait to join BSB Sanlitun this August, I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to work at such an innovative school in an amazing new building.

In Qatar I taught in both Reception and Pre-School (Nursery). I am incredibly passionate about Early Years education, making young children feel safe and secure in their learning  environment lays the foundations for a positive experience throughout their school lives. Sometimes in life people ask, “What would be your dream job?” The absolute truth is that I’m already doing it. Teaching young children with such inquiring minds is such a wonderful, privileged job and I love every minute!

One of my favourite things to do is going on camping holidays in France with my family, the journey and quality time spent together is always such a great experience! We had an amazing time exploring everything that Qatar has to offer, swimming, going to the cinema, exploring the beaches, souqs and parks. I am very excited about all of our adventures to come in Beijing!
