I will always remember the positive impact one of my teachers had on me whilst growing up. They transformed my school experience and instilled a lifelong love of learning in me; this inspired me to become a teacher myself. I always knew that I wanted to have the same positive effect on children and make a difference in their lives.
Whilst studying to become a teacher, I worked part time as a maths and English tutor, tutoring children from 4-14 years old. I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education and my previous degree was in Childhood Studies which further developed my understanding of child psychology and sociology.
Before I moved to Beijing, I worked as a Reception Teacher in England for 3 years. I was very honoured to join the team at BSB Sanlitun and was extremely excited by the incredible learning opportunities it offers. The extensive curriculum, Global Campus and the promotion of a ‘Be Ambitious’ attitude were just a few of the many factors that attracted me to this school and I am extremely proud to be moving into my third year of teaching here.
Out of school, I love to travel and experience new cultures. Beijing is an incredible city and I could never run out of new places to explore! I love Beijing’s beautiful hutongs and parks, and look forward to exploring more unrestored sections of the Great Wall.
