My teaching career began in 2015 after completing a BSc Honours degree in Psychology and Criminology at the University of Salford. I taught for four years at an outstanding school in Bolton, Manchester in Years 3, 4 and 5 where I was the coordinator of Computing, professional mentor for trainee teachers and recipient of Bolton’s Primary Teacher of the Year award. Working with and supporting children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds, I developed a philosophy very much centred on nurturing young people whilst empowering them to be ambitious and shape their own future.
This is my second year teaching at the British School of Beijing, Sanlitun. The school's focus on being academically, personally and socially ambitious resonated with me, and I am delighted to be continuing my journey here whilst exploring all that China has to offer.
Outside of school, I enjoy music, art and drama, and I am an avid painter. Before qualifying as a teacher, I spent some years performing on stage, and just as many working behind the scenes at Manchester’s famous Bridgewater Hall. I am as likely to be found hidden away, reading or writing, as I am exploring, meeting people and learning something new.
