I have been a teacher for 19 years, 10 of which have been as a senior leader in the primary sector. Beijing will be my first position in China but I have previously taught in two highly regarded schools in the Middle East as well as teaching for many years in the UK. I studied an English Degree at Leeds University which enabled me to further indulge my love of literature. I consider myself to be a life-long learner and I have recently completed two qualifications in Children’s Mental Health and Autism so that I have an even greater knowledge of how to support learners.
BSB Sanlitun is my third school as a head teacher and I am looking forward to the exciting opportunities and experiences that leading such a well-established, high performing school will bring. I have high expectations for myself, my team and the children and I am passionate about everyone in our school reaching their potential, not just academically, but socially and personally too. I firmly believe that as educators we are shaping our future leaders and I want to ensure that every child will be well placed to make a positive contribution to society thanks to the well-rounded education they will receive. I pride myself on being a ‘child centred’ leader, ready to embrace new ideas and initiatives if they will enhance a child’s learning experiences.
I am a mum of two teenagers who attend BSB Shunyi. I fully understand how important it is as a parent to know your child is in a setting where they can thrive and this is always paramount for me as a school leader.
