I have been a teacher for 20 years, 11 of which have been as a senior leader in the primary sector. I have previously taught in two highly regarded schools in the Middle East as well as teaching for many years in the UK. I studied an English Degree at Leeds University which enabled me to further indulge my love of literature. As part of my degree I also specialized in music in the Primary School which is another of my passions. I consider myself to be a life-long learner and I have recently completed two qualifications in Children’s Mental Health and Autism so that I have an even greater knowledge of how to support learners.
BSB Sanlitun is my third headship and I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at BSB as the Head of Primary. The children are an absolute delight and the parent body is incredibly supportive and so willing to work in collaboration with school for the good of the children. I have high expectations for myself, my team and the children and I am passionate about everyone in our school reaching their potential, not just academically, but socially and personally too. I firmly believe that as educators we are shaping our future leaders and I want to ensure that every child will be well placed to make a positive contribution to society thanks to the well-rounded education they will receive. I pride myself on being a ‘child centred’ leader, ready to embrace new ideas and initiatives if they will enhance a child’s learning experiences.
I am a mum of two teenagers who attend BSB Shunyi. I fully understand how important it is as a parent to know your child is in a setting where they can thrive and this is always paramount for me as a school leader.
